Supporting Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month

June 2023
June is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month

This month is set aside as a time to bring attention to the importance of brain health and the impact of neurological diseases, such as Alzheimer’s, on individuals and families worldwide. Alzheimer’s is a progressive neurological disorder affecting memory, thinking, and behavior and is the most common cause of dementia in older adults. It is estimated that over 6 million people in the United States alone live with Alzheimer’s disease, which is expected to triple by 2050. This devastating disease affects individuals and significantly impacts their families and caregivers.

Early Symptoms of Alzheimer’s

The early signs of Alzheimer’s include difficulty remembering recent events or conversations, misplacing items, struggling to plan or complete tasks, confusion about time or place, decreased judgment or decision-making abilities, mood changes or increased anxiety, and withdrawal from social activities. As the disease progresses, individuals may experience more severe symptoms such as difficulty speaking or walking, personality changes, and difficulty performing daily tasks. It’s essential to seek medical attention if these symptoms are noticed. Early diagnosis and treatment can help manage symptoms and improve quality of life.

How Can The Compliance Store Help?

The Compliance Store recognizes the severity of the impact that Alzheimer’s disease has on the elderly population. We provide support for caregivers and healthcare providers to deal with these challenges. We offer a wide range of resources to assist caregivers and long-term care administrators in caring for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, including policies, training tools, care solutions, and educational materials.

One of the many care plans and policies we offer is our “Dementia Care Solutions.” This document summarizes the regulatory roots of dementia care, a foundation for creating dementia care policies for a facility. It discusses the regulatory requirement of staff receiving dementia education, considerations of QAPI, and goes into detail on behavior management and non-pharmacological interventions. This new document would partner well with our new “Approaches to Dementia Care” because it provides thought-provoking ways that staff can approach dementia residents who may be resistant to care and different ways to view their daily care routine.

Highlighting Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month, we urge you to take the time to educate yourself and others on the importance of brain health and the impact of Alzheimer’s disease. At the Compliance Store, we understand the importance of providing up-to-date resources to support individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and their families. We are dedicated to administering the tools and education needed to ensure that individuals with dementia receive the necessary care and support. We hope our resources can help support you in your efforts to care for individuals with dementia.

Thank you for your continued support and dedication to improving the lives of those affected by Alzheimer’s disease. For more information, contact us online or call (877)-582-7347.
